Youth Services 

The Perry County Public Library offers a variety of programs throughout the year to appeal to a wide range of interests. Some programs, such as Geek Out and Creative Crafters, meet on a regular basis. Other programs, such as the Comic Calooza and Summer Reading Program, are once per year events. Be sure to check out our monthly newslsetter, The Library Page, for specific times and to see what programs are coming up!

Children’s Programs

Story Time

Held every Friday at 1pm in the children’s area of the library. Ages birth – 5 but all ages are welcome! Your child will listen to a story, have play time, & crafts!

Lego Club

Held on the first Thursday of each month in the children’s area of the library. Have fun with building projects & free play with Lego blocks. We also have MEGA blocks for our younger participants. Ages 5+.

After School Crafts

Every Friday from 3pm – 4:30pm in the children’s area for school age children. Stop by for crafts and fun!

Spice It Up Cooking Club

Monthly youth cooking club that meets the third Thursday of each month in the library meeting rooms. Ages 5-18. *Preregistration is required.

Creative Crafters

Held on the 4th Thursday of each month in the library meeting rooms. Get crafty with Miss Jessie & bring home some fridge-worthy creations. Crafts are first come, first served while supplies last. Ages 8-18.

Geek Out

Teen fandom program that meets on the third Wednesday of each month in the teen room. Explore & share the latest fandoms, hang with friends, & keep up with pop culture! Ages 10-18.

Dungeons, Dragons, & Librarians

Every other Saturday 11am – 3pm. Open table space is provided for anyone interested in hosting or playing tabletop role playing games (RPG). Various ages will attend this program, so please be respectful during your campaign building and storytelling. Supplies will be available, or you may bring your own. Ages 10+.

First Lego League

Is your child interested in Legos? Is your child interested in STEM and robotics? Consider joining our FIRST LEGO LEAGUE! First Lego League Challenge introduces science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) to children ages 9 – 14 through a fun, exciting, hands-on learning experience. Meets every Friday evening.

Chil-lax

Are you tired from school, activities, & just the daily grind? Visit the library to chill out & relax with our Chil-lax days. Relax by listening to music, picking up a new craft from our miscellaneous craft pile, read a book, or just zen out in our teen room. This time is for you. Socialize or don’t; it is all up to you. Chil-lax is held in the teen room on the second Wednesday of each month from 4pm – 6pm. Ages 10-18.

Book Clubs!

BookWorm Buddies Book Club

Join us each month for a caregiver & child book club. Let your kids socialize with others and develop a love for reading. All books may be kept while supplies last. Ages 2 - 6.

Read BeTween The Lines Book Club

Join us each month as we discuss new books! Bring your friends to have an afternoon of fun! All books may be kept while supplies last. Ages 7 - 12.

Teen Reading & Review Book Club

Join us to discuss the ins & outs of books you have read or want to read. Each month you will meet to hang out, socialize, snack, & discuss the latest (sometimes not the greatest) books being published. Ages 13 - 18.

Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library

Sign up today for the Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library. The Imagination Library is an early literacy program targeting children from birth to age 5. Every child that signs up for this program is mailed a free age-appropriate book each month until his or her 5th birthday.
