Overview of Library Services
The Perry County Public Library serves the citizens of Perry County, Kentucky with the main library and a bookmobile. The library provides a wide variety of popular materials and services. The bookmobile serves
as a mobile branch delivering library services to the entire Perry County area.
Tax forms are available during tax season.
Library Card
You can receive a free library card from the Perry County Public Library or from the bookmobile by providing a picture ID with your name, current address and phone number. If the address is not current, please provide two forms of mail with you address. Your library card allows you to use all library materials and services. For your protection, we require a valid library card to check out any materials or to use the Internet. Library cards are issued to all ages. (Replacement cost of lost card: $3.00)
Borrowing & Returns
The library has the following loan periods on circulating materials:
2 Weeks Books, Books on CD
7 Days DVD’s (one time renewal)
You must have your library card to borrow any materials. This helps insure your privacy and prevent abuses. Due to the size of some circulating collections, the library has placed a limitation on the number of items a patron may borrow. These are:
DVD’s 5 per individual (must be 18 years old)
Total of 20 items per person (includes DVD's)
Library materials may be returned to the library or bookmobile. When the library is closed, all materials may be returned in the book drop on the left side of the drive-through lane. (beside the drive-through window).
Renewals
Materials may be renewed in person or by telephone unless they are on reserve for another patron. Materials may be renewed three times (DVD's may only be renewed one time). Overdue materials may be renewed, but a fine will be assessed (when applicable) and no other materials may be borrowed until overdues are returned.
Fines
Overdue items accrue fines daily and fines are charged as follows:

Programs
The Perry County Public Library offers a variety of programs for children and adults throughout the year. This includes Story Time and other entertainment. Watch for listings on our website (www.perrycountylibrary.org), in the local newspapers, on WYMT TV's Community Calendar, listen to WSGS radio, or call the library for more information. There are no admission fees for programs and all programs are open to the public. (Some programs may require pre-registration.)
Electronic Information Services
The library offers computers for Internet access or for other computer use. Patrons under the age of 18 must have parent permission to access the Internet.
Special Services
When requested, materials not owned by the library may be borrowed from other libraries through Interlibrary Loan Service. Interlibrary Loan
The library provides special services which include large print books, the Talking Book Service, a Video-Eye machine and Zoom-Text software for those with low vision.
Two coin operated copiers are available for public use.
Fax machine service is available for $1.00 per page to send. No charge for local or toll free numbers.
Staff is available to provide a tour of the library and welcomes school group visits. Please call to schedule your tour before your visit.
Magazines and Newspapers
Over one hundred different magazines, ten local, regional and national newspapers are available for public use in the library. The Hazard-Herald newspaper is available on microfilm in the genealogy room dating back to 1910.
